This Year's Project: Revitalizing the Kindergarten Playground
MOE PTA puts the funds you help us raise into many projects that benefit the students at Mandarin Oaks. Projects range from purchasing planners for every student at our school, supporting Sunshine Math and Great Leaps Reading Programs, and helping Resource Teachers fund supplies, plus activities that support our community such as collecting aluminum pop-tops for Ronald McDonald House, to name just a few. Our biggest projects have included building playgounds and providing technology for use in the classrooms.
In the Spring of 2008, we were proud to announce the purchase of 19 document cameras and projectors. This technology replaces overhead projectors of the past, making transparencies unnecessary and allowing a variety of documents to be projected. We were also able to fund the purchase of an Apple computer cart with 16 Apple laptop computers and printer. In Spring of 2009, we were able to purchase 10 more laptops for the cart (leaving only 6 open slots), 2 more document cameras, 340 calculators, and 10 six-foot tables for use throughout the school.
Other projects of the past few years have included completion of two playgrounds: the main school playground and the ESE playground. This year's project will return to that theme by replacing and upgrading the Kindergarten playground.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported our efforts to enhance the educational experience of all our students here at MOE!
