- PTA Casting Call: Play your part and join MOE PTA! Dues are just $5 for the whole school year. Membership envelopes are available in the school office OR print a copy of this form; just fill it out and send it along with payment to your student's teacher. We are kicking off our January 2010 Membership Drive: for every paid membership, you will receive a coupon for $5.00 off at The Loop Restaurant on San Jose Blvd. With your membership, we can continue to support our school by purchasing planners for all our students, supporting Sunshine Math and Great Leaps reading Programs, and helping Resource Teachers fund supplies. Our biggest past projects include the completion of 2 playgrounds and providing technology to the classrooms. In Spring of 2009, we were able to purchase 10 more laptops, 2 more document cameras, 340 calculators and 10 six-foot tables for use throughout the school. Thank you to everyone who has supported the efforts to enhance the educational experience of all our students here at MOE! More information on joining PTA here. Attendance at General Meetings is not required, but is encouraged. Check out the minutes from our August 27th and October 15th General Meetings.
- Support Our Fundraisers! We need your help to support excellent education at MOE. Donations are always welcome.
- Volunteer! Opportunities range from rewarding short, one-time activities to even-more-rewarding long-term commitments. For more information, please visit our Volunteers page.
- Advocate for Children! PTA is the nation's largest volunteer child advocacy group, and we need you to join your voice to ours to create a powerful influence to help guarantee the education and well-bring of all children. Find more information on our Advocacy page. Also, consider attending Florida PTA's Rally in Tally on Thursday, March 25 (more information available on the DCCPTA website here and on the Florida PTA website here).
- Save Box Tops and Otherwise Support the School through Your Shopping! Check back often for news about specials that can benefit both you and the school. For example, special Box Tops offers are going on now at Publix! Click here for more information.
- Recycle Paper in the Bins in the Car Rider Circle & Printer Cartridges & Used Cell Phones by Turning Them in to the Front Office! Not only are you helping the earth, but MOE is paid for any paper -- all types of paper, from office paper to magazines and newspapers, even shredded paper -- submitted for recycling through these bins (more information on the recycling program here and here) and for recycling the printer cartridges and cell phones.
- Support Our Programs to Benefit the Community! For instance, we always collect aluminum pop tops, such as the ones from soda cans, for Ronald McDonald House to pay its electric bill. Just put the pop tops in a plastic baggie, label the baggie "PTA," and turn the baggie in to the school office or send it to class with your child. Also, from Saturday, February 27, through Friday, March 26, we will be collecting new and gently used books for BOOKS-A-Go Go. BOOKS--A-Go Go is a nonprofit organization that collects used and new children's books and gives them to children from low income families. Kids need books to improve their literacy and develop a love of reading. BOOKS-A-Go Go has given thousands and thousands of free books to children whose families cannot afford to buy them the books they need. The children love receiving their books, and get so excited; they hug them and can't wait to read them. For many children, it will be the first book in their home. The books you donate will stay in our community and go to the children of Duval County.
- Purchase and Use MOE Spirit Items! This year we are offering a new design on our short-sleeved T-Shirt: it will be kelly green, tie-dyed with our logo on the front left chest and an eagle design on the back. This T-Shirt is still available, but our navy blue jackets and hoodies and maroon long-sleeve shirt from last year are no longer available. Show your school spirit, and order today! Click here for an order form to print out, fill out, and send in to the school with payment.
- Attend and Participate in Any of the Activities and Programs listed to the right.
